Info & Health Guarantee – ParrotHaven.co.uk
At Parrot Haven, your bird’s health and safety are our top priority. We take every measure to ensure that our parrots are happy, healthy, and ready to join their new homes with confidence.
✅ Disease Testing & Health Assurance
All our birds undergo thorough disease screening before leaving our care. We guarantee that each parrot is tested and confirmed negative for the following conditions:
Polyomavirus (PVD)
Avian Bornavirus (ABV)
Proventricular Dilatation Disease (PDD)
Psittacine Beak and Feather Disease (PBFD)
Chlamydia psittaci
You’ll receive certified paperwork confirming your bird’s test results with every purchase.
🐦 General Health Guarantee (7 Days)
We provide a 7-day health guarantee on all weaned birds (those eating independently). At the time of sale, we guarantee that:
The bird shows no symptoms of illness
The bird is free of parasites, viral, bacterial, or fungal infections
The bird has no known congenital defects
🩺 Vet Check Policy
We strongly encourage buyers to book an examination with a qualified avian vet within 7 days of collecting or receiving their parrot. If a licensed avian vet deems the bird “unfit for sale”, we require written documentation from the vet to be sent to info@parrothaven.co.uk within 24 hours of the exam. You may then request:
A replacement bird (if available), or
A full refund
Please Note: This guarantee only applies to birds that were fully weaned at the time of sale and excludes any bird that was hand-fed or still being weaned by the new owner.
If a vet check is not completed within the 7-day window, the health guarantee becomes void and the sale is final.
🍼 What Does “Weaned” Mean?
A weaned bird is one that can feed itself independently, maintain a stable weight, and is not reliant on hand-feeding. Most of our birds are weaned before going to new homes. In special cases, we may agree to continue the weaning process for an additional fee.
🏡 Helping Your Bird Settle In
Once you bring your parrot home:
Allow them time to adjust quietly in their cage
Avoid too much handling or overstimulation in the first 24–48 hours
Offer fresh water, a variety of fruits/veg, and seed/pellet mix
Let your new companion build trust and settle into their surroundings gradually.
If you have any questions about your bird’s health, care, or transition process, our team is always available to support you. We want you and your feathered friend to thrive together!
